Holy Ghost! Announces Summer Tour with Chromeo, Release Video through Adult Swim!

Summer is officially here and Holy Ghost! is ready to be the soundtrack to every sun-soaked BBQ and sweaty late-night party. The duo and their live players just wrapped their first tour as a full live band, playing sold-out shows across the country with label-mates and friends LCD Soundsystem. This tour was the perfect transition from the studio to the stage, one that Nick Millhiser describes as a “three week field trip with some of my dearest friends.”

They’ll be playing a few solo and multi-bill shows here and in Europe before heading out on the road again next month with pals Chromeo, and will play a not-to-be-missed show with Hercules and Love Affair and Hot Chip at Central Park SummerStage in August.

At the shows, you’ll be able to catch tunes from Holy Ghost’s recently released debut EP Static on the Wire. These are four of the catchiest, hook-heavy, disco-infused pop songs you’ll hear all year, and are sure to keep your feet movin’ and your head boppin’ all summer long.

Holy Ghost! (DFA) are born and bred New Yorkers Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser. The two disco and hot sauce enthusiasts met in elementary school and have been playing in bands together ever since. Yes, they've managed to branch out that little.

After working as studio musicians and live players for DFA Records partners James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy as well as playing and recording with Juan Maclean on his releases, both Frankel and Millhiser formed Holy Ghost! over a shared love of analog synthesizers, Larry Levan era-disco, and the cheap thrills of infectious Pop. At the insistence of Murphy,the duo released their first original song, "Hold On," on DFA Records. The song's recipe - a mix of Italo beats and pop vocals sans irony, hit a chord worldwide and achieved cross over success. Diverse club support from DJ's like A-Trak and The Loft’s David Mancuso led to mainstream support artention. Itunes named "Hold On" Single of The Week.

Propelled by the success of "Hold On," Holy Ghost! released a string of hit remixes for artists like MGMT, Cut Copy, Phoenix, and Moby, and traveled across the world DJ'ing on every continent ( except Antartica). A second single was released in 2009, entitled “I Will Come Back” and was coupled by a music video that is an homage to the New Order video for “Confusion”. Holy Ghost hosted Subterranean on MTV2.

After releasing a cover swap with British band Friendly Fires on XL/DFA, the duo will soon unveil their live band and release an EP of new, original music on DFA in May 2010. To support it, they'll open up for LCD Soundsystem in the US and then head to Europe to play summer festivals.
