SCANNERS Drop Their Sophomore Album Submarine February 2010
Scanners are a London-based rock outfit formed by Matt Mole (guitar, vocals, synths) and Sarah Daly (vocals, bass, violin), later rounded out with the addition of Amina (guitar, keys) and Tom (drums), resulting in the sound and on-stage chemistry that the band is acclaimed for. 2009 saw Scanners finish up recording their second album Submarine with producer Stephen Hague (New Order), which will be released in February 2010 through Dim Mak.
Soon after finding their permanent formation the band took to the road, touring relentlessly with acts such as The Horrors, The Wedding Present, The Charlatans, Electric Six, and Juliette & The Licks.
The band’s debut album titled Violence Is Golden was released in 2006 through Dim Mak after a fortuitous run-in with label head Steve Aoki - a few drinks and veggie meal late the band joined the Dim Mak roster. Scanners toured the album in the UK, Europe, and North America which included SXSW appearances as well as an April 2007 performance on Last Call With Carson Daly.
This release is an impressive follow-up from the UK foursome, spearheaded but the eerily melodic first single "Salvation" with dark wave harmonies that overlay a haunting melody. The single is accompanied with stellar remixes by Don Diablo, Tittsworth, Dan Sena, Dirty Disco Youth and the band themselves. Keep an eye out for a remix release as well as forthcoming US tour dates!

BIO
Scanners are a London-based rock outfit formed by Matt Mole (guitar, vocals, synths) and Sarah Daly (vocals, bass, violin). Before expanding to its current four person lineup, the band consisted solely of the two musicians, a drum machine and various synths. Humble beginnings, sure, but Mat and Sarah realized this. Amina (guitar, keys), a regular Scanners gig-goer, eventually joined the group. Finally, the band line-up was complete with the addition of Tom (drums), who had left the countryside to seek his fortune in London, but instead found Scanners.
Over the next couple of years, Scanners took to the road, touring with bands such as The Horrors, The Wedding Present, The Charlatans, The Fever, Electric Six, Mindless Self Indulgence, and Juliette & The Licks. The band had a fortuitous run-in with Dim Mak head honcho, Steve Aoki, who was in London and managed to make it to one of the band's rehearsals. "A few drinks and a vegetarian meal later, we realized if he wasn't the head of a company, we would have asked him to join the band," Mat says. Things as they were though, the band and Aoki's label decided to put out a record together.
The band’s debut album titled ‘Violence Is Golden’ was released on US label Dim Mak Records in 2006. Scanners toured the United Kingdom, Europe, North America (including a show as part of the SXSW festival) and in April 2007 they appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly to perform their single "Lowlife”. The band also headlined the Les 3 Elefants Festival after Air in France. In October 2007 the band recorded a live session for XFM, with another in January 2008. ‘Violence is Golden’ was released in the UK on the 22 February 2008 and Dim Mak also released an EP of remixes of "Bombs/Lowlife" with work from The Teenagers, A-Trak, LA Riots and Uffie, in March 2008.
2009 saw Scanners finish up recording their second album ‘Submarine’ with producer Stephen Hague (New Order), which is anticipated for a release in January 2010.

REVIEWS
“Since the days of Joy Division and the like, nobody has really grabbed the Moog and run with it as well as these two gals and guys.”
—LA Weekly
“Scanners was the kind of happy accident that makes SXSW such an awesome adventure. Fronted by a raucous female lead singer (Sarah) and a scorching female lead guitarist (Amina), they were a refreshingly feminine jolt of London pop in a festival of bands that can sometimes be dominated by the boys”
